The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced today the results of the 49th quarterly auction of CO2 allowances.
All of the allowances on offer were sold at the auction held on September 02, 2020. The clearing price of $6.82 was the second highest ever, and more than $1.00 higher than the last auction in June.
The September auction offered 16 million allowances from participating RGGI states. There were 20 more bidders than in the last auction, and compliance-oriented entities purchased a robust 66% of the allowances on offer. More details on the auction are in the table below:
