The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced today the results of the 55th quarterly auction of CO2 allowances.
All of the allowances on offer were sold at the auction held on March 09, 2022. The clearing price of $13.50 was the highest ever, and in fact represented the fifth consecutive auction that cleared at a record price. The previous auction in December cleared $13.00.
The March auction offered nearly 22 million allowances from participating RGGI states. The ratio of bids to supply was 2.5x and featured 75 bidders. More details on the auction are in the table below:
