The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced today the results of the twenty-fourth quarterly auction of CO2 allowances under the regulatory program.
All of the allowances on offer, which include CO2 allowances from allocation year 2014 and earlier, were sold at the auction held on June 04, 2014. The clearing price was $5.02, above the $4.00 clearing price for the last auction held in March. This marks the second consecutive auction in which the clearing price posted a record high clearing price.
The June auction offered more than 18 million allowances from participating RGGI states. Although 5 million allowances were offered and sold from the cost containment reserve (CCR) in the last auction, no CCR allowances were on offer during this auction.
