The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) announced today the results of the fortieth quarterly auction of CO2 allowances.
All of the allowances on offer were sold at the auction held on June 13, 2018. The clearing price of $4.02 was the highest level since the September 2017 auction, which cleared $4.35.
The June auction offered nearly 14 million allowances from participating RGGI states. Compliance-oriented entities purchased only 36% of the allowances on offer, the lowest level in a year and well below the 60% won in the March 2018 auction. More details on the auction are in the table below:
