Last week, Evolution Markets’ John Battaglia, a Vice President on the company’s U.S. Carbon Markets Desk, provided insights into the evolving cap and trade market in California during a Research Call hosted by UBS’ Independent Power Producer (IPP)/Utility Equity Analysts. John offered an overview of the approach regulators at the California Air Resources Board (ARB) are using to allocate carbon allowances and how this could impact the value of carbon and market liquidity. In addition, John provided commentary on the price drivers for California carbon allowances and offsets.
The call was attended by several hedge funds and private equity investors, as well as corporate entities with interest in the California carbon market. In conjunction with John’s presentation, UBS also released a research note on the California climate change program.
